Biden appears to do a ‘Ron Burgundy’ as he reads ‘repeat the line’ from prompter

THE hilarious moment Joe Biden appeared to misread a teleprompter and unwittingly impersonate Ron Burgundy has gone viral.
The US President was giving a speech before signing an executive order safeguarding abortion access when the supposed mistake slipped out.

As he reads from the teleprompter, Biden is heard saying “repeat the line”.
He said: “‘Women are not without electoral or political power.
“It is noteworthy that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast a ballot is consistently higher than the percentage of the men who do so. End of quote. Repeat the line.
“Women are not without electoral…or political power.”

He was called out on Twitter by Republican strategist Greg Price who mocked Biden’s assumed slip-up, comparing it to Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy from Anchorman.
The character from the hit movie is unable to decipher between his news script and his presenter notes.
White House Assistant Press Secretary Emilie Simons didn’t seem too amused, taking to Twitter to defend Biden’s alleged error.
She argued that instead of the present misreading an instruction out loud, he was actually correct.
Simons said: “No. He said, “let me repeat that line.”
Elon Musk, who has previously flippantly taken aim at Biden, shared an anecdote to Twitter over the potential gaffe.
Shared with a meme of a well-known scene from Anchorman, Musk wrote: “Whoever controls the teleprompter is the real President!”
The text in the image says: “For the last time, anything you put on that teleprompter, Burgundy will read.”
It follows similar comments he’s made before in May during the All-In Summit.
He told a podcast at the summit: “The real president is whoever controls the teleprompter.
“The path to power is the path to the teleprompter.
“I do feel like if somebody were to accidentally lean on the teleprompter, it’s going to be like Anchorman.”
VIRAL MOMENTS
President Biden has had his fair share of incidents come under the spotlight when he appears to make a mistake.
Biden left people puzzled in April this year when he appeared to turn to shake someone’s hand – despite nobody being on stage beside him.
The 79-year-old, had finished a speech on the nation’s supply chain crisis when the gaffe occurred, leading to an awkward couple of seconds.
In a now-viral clip of the speech in Greensboro, North Carolina, the president ended with “God bless you all,” before turning to his right and motioning toward the empty space behind him.
The incident came only days after he was pooped on by a bird during a speech on infrastructure in Iowa on Tuesday.

“It’s about being made in America,” Biden was filmed saying in the moments prior to the poo.
Biden was discussing infrastructure and inflation as part of a visit to POET Bioprocessing.
