Known online as @joesgarden, the green-fingered content creator regularly shares handy tips with his 1.5 million followers.
In a new TikTok reel, he said: “Here is my quick hack to make watering your plants even easier.
“All you need is an old bottle and a nail, and you want to poke three holes in the bottom of the bottle.
“This will allow the water to run out but not too fast.

“Carefully dig a hole next to the plants you want to water, and bury your bottle up to the neck.
“This way the water gets straight to the root where it’s needed the most, and to prevent mosquitos, put the lid back on.”
Below the video, he added: “It works really well and makes daily watering even easier as you just have to fill up the bottle.
“The water will drain out faster if the soil is dry and slower if the soil is saturated.”
Fans loved his quick tip, with the video gaining more than 39,600 likes and 616,500 views.
In the comments, TikTokkers shared their reactions, with one writing: “That’s really cool! Definitely going to give it a go.”
“Yep! We do this a lot. It comes from the native tradition of using ceramic pots buried in the soil,” commented another.
A third put: “Genius! Love your content!”
“Simple n effective,” shared another.
Although not all were convinced by the idea, with another adding: “Only problem is that it won’t wet the whole pot, only in the immediate area around the bottle making edges of the pot dry.”
Someone else questioned: “Should we worry about micro plastic getting into the garden?”
